Ryan S. MacGillis is a trial attorney at Wisconsin First Responder Lawyers, a division of MacGillis Law Group, LLC, where he is dedicated to defending the legal rights of first responder unions and their members. Ryan is licensed to practice law in all Wisconsin county circuit courts, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Wisconsin, the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
In addition to his work at Wisconsin First Responder Lawyers, Ryan brings a wealth of experience in public-sector law. As a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the U.S. Army Reserve, he has advised numerous military and federal civilian leaders since joining the Army in 2003 and currently holds the rank of Major. In 2021, he completed a yearlong mobilization with the 10th Mountain Light Infantry Division, where he served as a Special Victims’ Counsel, advocating for the rights of sexual assault victims through the military justice system. Ryan now serves as a Deputy Team Chief for the 214th Legal Operations Detachment.
For his accomplishments on behalf of clients, Ryan has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers every year since 2013. He also volunteers with several organizations, including the Dry Hootch Volunteer Family Law Clinic, where he offers general legal advice to veterans and their families. Known for his focus, skill, and dedication, Ryan approaches each case with individualized attention and an unyielding commitment to his clients’ needs.
